Farmers Co-Op Elevator Co., Inc. was established in 1917 and is locally owned and operated by area farmers and business people. Diversification began with the acquiring of Box & Basket in 1977 to supply the Horticultural market. The Turf & Ornamental division was started in 1996 to supply the commercial landscapers, nurserymen and the golf course markets.

Farmers Co-Op has become one of the major agri-businesses in West Michigan, which supplies the region with feed, fertilizer, chemicals, seed, animal health products, petroleum products, and the marketing of grain. In addition, Farmers Co-Op is a strong leader in supplying horticulture supplies throughout the state of Michigan. Farmers Co-Op is striving to become a leader in the Turf and Ornamental market using some of the same resources and logistics.

As in the past, future growth will be guided by an operating philosophy that is the same today as it was when the Farmers Co-Op first started, i.e. a commitment to serving customers with integrity, quality, and fair value.
